Canadian Quentin Roberts Solos Torre Egger in Patagonia

It's been a busy few weeks in Patagonia thanks to some good weather windows

It’s been a tragic week in Patagonia with the death of famed mountain guide and alpinist Korra Pesce on Cerro Torre. If you haven’t already, be sure to visit the fundraiser here that has been organized to assist his daughter.

Many climbers were in the mountains at the time of the accident that killed Pesce, including Canmore-based Quentin Roberts, who spent time with Pesce before they left for their objectives.

Roberts, known for his bold solos in Canada, such as Blessed Rage WI6 this winter, recently completed a solo ascent of Torre Egger, the striking tower next to Cerro Torre. Roberts is currently back out climbing, but shared some of his experience on social.

In 2016, the late Marc-Andre Leclerc made the first winter solo ascent of Torre Egger, a climb featured in the film The Alpinist. We’ll have more updates from Patagonia in the coming days.
