Canadian Sara Lilley Wins Ouray Ice Climbing Competition
This is the first gold medal for the Canadian Rockies-based all-round climber
Canadian Sara Lilley, who’s based in the Rockies, has won gold at the 2025 Ouray elite ice climbing competition in the women’s category. The competition is also a stop on the UIAA Ice Climbing Continental Open – part of the Ice Climbing World Cup Tour.
In second place behind Lilley was Roz Reynolds and in third was Ryan McCauley. Fellow Canadian Kara Vogler finished in 10th place. In the men’s category, American Keenan Griscom won gold, followed by Tyler Kempney and Caleb Laszloffy. Several Canadians competed in men’s, with Tyler Howe getting the best finish in 11th. Several other Canadians have podiumed in the past, including Rebecca Lewis, Sarah Hueniken, Nathan Kutcher and Will Gadd. The event takes places at the Ouray Ice Festival, one of America’s longest running ice climbing get-togethers.
