Canadians Visiting US for Over 30 Days Must Register

If you're planning a multi-month road trip to the US, be sure to register before heading south

Canadian climbers travelling to the US for longer trips should check the new registration rules that will be kicking in this season. The Canadian government has updated its travel advisory for the US, notifying travellers heading south for more than 30 days must register.

The rule is part of Donald Trump’s “Protecting the American People Against Invasion” executive order, which was signed on Jan. 20. It applies to anyone who is not an American citizen or permanent resident.

“Canadians and other foreign nationals visiting the United States for periods longer than 30 days must be registered with the United States government,” Canada’s travel advisory states. “Failure to comply with the registration requirement could result in penalties, fines, and misdemeanor prosecution.”

There have also been reports of border services checking traveller’s social media and emails for anything anti-Donald Trump. Information about travel and other current political things in the accounts below.
