Choriboulder -Chile’s Best Bouldering is Threatened by Mining
Found in the heart of the Chilean Andes, this quiet area has alot of potential for difficult problems and a keen local scene.
Chilean climber, Carlos Lastra Barros, reached out to us to let us know that, “The area is currently threatened by a mining project that aims to pipe the rivers and threaten access.”
With climbing from V0 to V12 and with classics like Namaste V11 established by team The North Face who visits every year, hopefully climbers can rally support and block the mining.
Such a case recently occurred in Turkey, when a mining project threatened Geyik Bayiri, one of Europe’s most popular crags, but climbers managed to save the area.
