Climber Dies After Fall in Colorado’s Alpine
The climber was ascending a classic rock ridge on Ypsilon Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park has released a press release about a fatal accident. The park said that a 26-year-old female from Boulder died after she fell around 500 feet while “free-solo climbing on the Four Aces of Blitzen Ridge on Ypsilon Mountain on the east side of the park.”
While the climber’s name has not been officially released, friends and family of Bailee Mulholland have taken to social media to share their condolences and memories. Mulholland was an avid member of the Boulder community and an experienced climber.
Mulholland’s climbing partner, a 27-year-old male from Boulder, called rangers after her fall. He was rescued later that day via helicopter. The press release said the park called for a Colorado Air National Guard helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base to assist in the longline rescue of her partner.
Rocky Mountain National Park search and rescue members hiked to the area above Ypsilon Lake the following morning to recover Mulholland. The Climbing Grief Fund was established to assist climbers who are dealing with trauma, find out more here. Our condolences to Mulholland’s family and friends.
