The District of Squamish Council has approved a proposal for a gondola to be installed that will run between Shannon Falls and through Stawamus Chief Provincial Park up to the ridge leading to Mount Habrich.

The District of Squamish Council has approved a proposal for a gondola to be installed that will run between Shannon Falls and through Stawamus Chief Provincial Park up to the ridge leading to Mount Habrich. The controversial proposal has met with resistance from some climbers who feel that such an installation does not belong in a provincial park. Supporters of the plan however point out that the development will increase tourism resulting in further economic benefits to the area.
