Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses North Faces in a Push

Benjamin Vedrines did not use a motorised vehicle to travel between the famous peaks

Benjamin Vedrines and Leo Billon have climbed three of the most famous north faces in the world of alpinism. In just a week, they climbed classic routes up Grandess Jorasses, Matterhorn and the Eiger.

Vedrines cycled, ran, skied and paraglided between each peak, while Billon drove himself because he’s focused on a different style of training. They climbed the iconic walls starting on April 6 and ending on April 11.

They climbed the Heckmair Route on the Eiger in four hours and 10 minutes, the Schmid Route on the Matterhorn in five hours and 40 minutes, and the Colton-McIntyre on the Grandes Jorasses in four hours and 20 minutes. Vedrines said the climbs went at a “relaxed pace, without pressure.”

Talking to Planet Mountain, Vedrines said, “There are many really strong young alpinists out there and they’ll be able to climb much more in this style, super fast and very efficient, if they have the right mindset. I hope this adventure will help them break their mental barriers and that we’ll see some more progress in the future.”
