Ethan Pringle Climbs 5.14d in Portugal
The American 5.15 climber repeated Filipinos, a steep route opened in 2019

Ethan Pringle to Portugal where he repeated Filipinos, one of the country’s hardest sport routes at 5.14d. Pringle said the route is found at “the not-yet-popular but world-class sport-crag Meio Mango.”
First climbed by local Andre Neres in 2019, Pringle said that Filipinos is one of the most stunning and high-quality routes of the grade in Europe. It climbs a 20-metre section of limestone above the Atlantic. “Before arriving in Portugal, Filipinos was the one I had my eye on,” said Pringle. “A beautiful line connecting some striking features up the middle of a smooth panel, right above the sea. The rock is bullet-hard, which is unusual for a limestone wall that steep, and the moves are playful and unique.”
After his send, he said, “On Monday, with cold, windy, but still damp conditions, I was able to cruise through the upper head wall without even really getting pumped, on my 13th or 14th total try. Sweet relief!”
Pringle’s send was captured by Catie Monteiro who edited the footage and released it in the below video.
