Feb 19, 2010 – Honnold Gets High on Ambrosia
Alex Honnold has recently bagged the second ascent of the incredible highball problem Ambrosia. The 45-foot problem tackles the intimidating east face of the Grandpa Peabody boulder first climbed by Kevin Jorgeson last winter who graded it V12. Honnold managed to find a slightly easier sequence at the low crux bringing the difficulties down to a more manageable V10 but encountered some tense moments at the higher committing V7 section. It seems that another climber who was also working the problem had chalked a different sequence creating some route-finding confusion. Luckily Honnold sorted out the correct sequence and cruised to the top. More details here.
