Frangos Sisters Send Hard Routes in Red Rocks

Canmore-based Becca and Sara Frangos are two of Alberta’s strongest young climbers.

The twin sisters recently spent spring break in Red Rocks with their family and friends. Fresh off an impressive competitive bouldering season, Becca and Sara put their training to good use on some steep 5.13s.

Sara sent Midnight Cowboy 5.13a, her hardest route to date. “It was my first 5.13 and it was amazing,” Sara told Gripped.

“Short and bouldery. It started with a powerful traverse without any feet and then all you had to do was keep it together for the rest, which was more moderate, but vertical and techy.”

Becca sent Nirvana Alternative, her second 5.13b. “Third go,” wrote Becca on her Sendage.com scorecard. “Found some crazy short-person beta at the third draw that involved some micro holds. Such an aesthetic line.”

Becca’s first 5.13b was The Hood at Acephale in the Bow Valley. She also has a number of 5.13as to her name.

With a summer road trip across Europe planned, the Frangos sisters are sure to send many more steep and powerful routes.

There’s no better way to start the rock season than climbing your hardest routes. Congrats Becca and Sara!
