French Climber Julia Chanourdie Sends Her First 5.14d

Julia Chanourdie has sent Ground Zero 5.14d at Tetto di Sarre in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta. The steep line was first climbed in 2002 by Alberto Gnerro as the first climb of the grade in the country. It was climbed one year after the 9/11 attacks in New York and named in the even’ts memory.

Twenty-year-old Chanourdie began projecting the rotue in 2016 after sending L’avara 5.14c. She wrote on Instagram after, “Yersterday I realised my first 9a [5.14d] Ground Zero at the Tetto di Sarre in Italy. It’s definitely the best moment…”
