Fundraiser for Canadian Youth Ice Comp Climber

Adam Keirle is a Rockies climber who's on his way to Colorado to compete at the Ouray Ice Fest

Adam Keirle is a Canmore-based climber who’s hoping to compete against some of the world’s best youth ice climbers at three different comps this season starting this weekend.

Keirle’s coach, Matt Westlake, whose ice climbing photos have appeared in Gripped magazine, reached out to share Keirle’s fundraising page. As we all know, travelling to mountain towns, staying in hotels and paying to compete in comps isn’t cheap. The fundraiser has already raised around $2,000 and the Alpine Club of Canada is assisting by booking hotels.

The events that Keirle is hoping to compete at are Ouray from Jan. 18 to 21, the Edmonton World Cup from Feb. 16 to 18 and Festiglace from Feb. 21 to 25. “These three competitions will be the predecessors to international competitions next year,” said Westlake.

Unlike the US, Canada doesn’t have a big ice climbing team and there are only a handful of climbers who compete in the events each year. Helping to grow the base of a future international team seems more than worth it. To learn more and to donate to Keirle’s fundraiser visit here.
