Hamish McArthur Climbs No One Mourns The Wicked V17

This was Hamish McArthur's second V17 second ascent this season

On May 4, British climber Hamish McArthur made the second ascent of No One Mourns The Wicked V17 at Thunder Ridge in Colorado.

McArthur climbed the problem in a single session. No One Mourns The Wicked was first climbed by Nathaniel Coleman in 2024 – watch the first ascent below. This was McArthur’s second V17 to date with the first being Megatron – read about it here.

Over the past year, McArthur has climbed several hard problems in North America, including Big Z V16 in California. He spent several weeks in Squamish in 2024, where he flashed Frontside V12 and Fool Me Once V14, made the first ascent of Backside Blowout V14, and climbed Sword in the Stone V14, The Singularity V15, and Se7en V14/15.

1:15 – stuck crux move
1:30 – sent Defying Gravity
