Here’s What Soloing a Yosemite Big Wall is Like
Oliver Tippett has released some footage from his recent visit to Yosemite Valley

Earlier this year, British big wall climber Oliver Tippett climbed several test-piece El Capitan aid routes, some with a partner and many without. His multi-wall visit to the Valley is one of the most impressive of the past few years.
He climbed The Reticent Wall (VI A4+), Sea of Dream (VI A4+), Zenyatta Mondatta (VI A4), Virginia (VI A3), Atlantis (VI 5.9 A4) and Tempest (VI 5.8 A4). After returning home, he edited some of the footage from one of the routes into a 50-minute video, which you can watch below
“A couple months ago I rope soloed Zenyatta Mondatta on El Capitan over over days,” he said, “and I thought I’d try to make a video to convey what soloing a bigwall feels like. Sorry it’s so long.”
