Hometown Favourite Oriane Bertone on Paris Olympics

The World Cup gold medalist talks about the upcoming Summer Games in a video that just dropped

French climber Oriane Bertone has been a leading climber since she became the youngest person ever to climb V14 in 2018 at the age of just 12. After stepping into the international competition circuit in 2019, she has been racking up impressive results.

After winning her first World Cup gold last spring, read more about it here, Bertone qualified for the Paris Olympics at the IFSC European Qualifier. She was the only competitor to top all four problems in the Boulder round, having flashed three of them.

“I was trying to pay attention to the crowd’s reaction whenever I was grabbing a new hold,” Bertone said after her win. “I was thinking ‘Is it this one? No. Is it the next one? No.’ And when I took the one I heard everybody go crazy, I turned my head so that I could see the screen and saw my name up there. I don’t even know what to say, I’m crazy happy.”

In a newly released interview, Bertone talks about training and the Paris Olympics, which start today. To find out how to watch the climbing competition, which starts on Aug. 5, visit here.
