IFSC Innsbruck World Cup in Cancelled

There will be no World Cup events taking place before fall 2020

In a press release on June 5, the IFSC talks about upcoming comps in 2020 in Austria and Russia. Along with Austria Climbing, they announced that the Bouldering and Lead World Cup originally scheduled in Innsbruck from June 23 to 27 has been cancelled. “Indeed, although the current situation in Austria is slightly and steadily improving, and considering the actual regulations set by the Austrian Government on the organisation of public events, it’s been decided to cease the preparation of the competition.”

At the 2018 World Championships in Innsbruck, there were 173 athletes registered to compete in all three Bouldering, Lead and Speed climbing disciplines. Visit here for full results.

Furthermore, during a teleconference meeting yesterday, the IFSC board decided to move the IFSC European Championsips in Moscow to the period from Nov. 20 to 29, in order to further minimize the health and logistic risks connected to the covid-19 pandemic.
