Iker Pou Sends New 5.14d, First Was 20 Years Ago
The 42-year-old first climbed 5.14d back in 2000 with Action Directe
Iker Pou, 42, has made the first ascent of La Nave de los Locos 5.14d in Mallorca, which was bolted by José Luis Palao. His first of the grade was Action Directe back in 2000.
His new steep line is 25 metres of tufas and crimps with a few difficult mono pockets. It took the leading climber six days. “When I’m at home and not on an expedition,” said Pou, “I love searching for new projects to try hard.
In 2018, Pou made the first ascent of Artaburu 5.15b and has climbed a number of V14 boulder problems. He’s also established 5.14 big walls around the world. Follow him below for more climbing adventures.
