Jorge Díaz-Rullo Onsights Two 5.14a Routes in a Day

These sends come 10-days after he sent sent the hardest route of his life, a 5.15c first ascent

On February 15, Jorge Díaz-Rullo, onsighted two 5.14a routes in a single day in Spain. The two climbs, Fill de Caín and Los Últimos Días del Edén, are located at the El Purgatori sector of Margalef. The day prior, Díaz-Rullo made another impressive 5.13d/14a onsight. He also picked up onsights of El Koala Extension 5.14a in early February and Memoria de Peix 5.14a in late December.

The 24-year-old Spanish climber is no stranger to hard onsighting. According to his 8a.nu page, he has onsighted two 5.14b’s, 12 5.14a’s, and 34 5.13d’s. He holds second place in onsighting on 8a.nu, ranking only behind Adam Ondra, who’s accumulated a staggering three 5.14d, 23 5.14c, 66 5.14b, 101 5.14a, and 158 5.13d onsights.

Díaz-Rullo has had quite the month. On February 5, he made the first ascent of his first-ever 5.15c, Mejorando la Samfaina, a link-up of Mejorando Imagen 5.15a/b and Samfaina 5.15a. He has sent seven 5.15b’s in the past, all of which were in Spain, including El Bon Combat and First Round First Minute—both Chris Sharma first ascents in Catalunya. He’s also bouldered up to V15.
