June 10, 2010 – Huber Tells All in New Book

The legendary German climber Alexander Huber reveals much about his motivation and passion for climbing in his new biography The Mountain Within.  In the book Huber talks about standard setting routes, his insatiable desire to climb and his struggle with the “constant hateful criticism of what [he] was doing directed at [him] by some climbers.” Huber also has some fascinating things to say about the future of national climbing organizations and feels that “there’s too much marketing of services and membership recruitment on the one hand, and on the other, not enough mountain climbing and too little engagement with the bolting issue or in the struggle to maintain open access to climbing areas.”
