June 14, 2010 – Gadd Offers Insight on David Lama vs The Compressor Route
Will Gadd is again shedding some light on the David Lama/Cerro Torre controversy. Earlier this season, reports emerged that extra bolts were added to Cesare Maestri’s already controversial Compressor Route on Cerro Torre. The bolts were used to accommodate David Lama’s attempt at a free ascent and provide rigging opportunities for the film crew documenting the climb. In his latest blog, Gadd discusses what he believes may have been the motivation for the climbing team’s actions and dispels the idea that Lama’s sponsors encouraged the bolting. More details here.
