June 24, 2010 – Sean McColl’s Excellent European Vacation

While in Europe preparing to compete in the IFSC World Cup climbing circuit, Canadian Sean McColl took some time to sample the fine euro limestone. During a brief visit to Rodellar, McColl bagged a one-day, three-try ascent of Minas Tirith 8c/8c+ (5.14b/c). McColl was surprised at the quick send saying “one day, three tries, this can’t be 8c+? Can it?” What is perhaps more impressive is the fact that McColl had not climbed routes outside in almost 10 months. “I think the last route I did was Dreamcatcher 5.15a back in late September,” says McColl.
