Laura Rogora, 18, Climbs New 5.14d in Italy

Laura Rogora has made the first ascent of Rèveille-toi 5.14d at Cueva di Collepardo in Italy. The line is a direct finish of Il traverso dei sogni that was bolted by Roberto Podio.

“This direct finish was bolted by Bertrand Lemaire and I started gave it a go two years ago, but I started working it seriously only last September” Rogora told planetmountain.com. “I managed to do it with just one rest, but then winter set in and the route started to seep, after which competitions began and I never returned. I tried it again on Saturday and immediately had good sensations, probably because of my winter training for competitions.” Photos here.

In 2016, at the age of 14, Rogora became the first Italian female and second youngest climber ever to climb 5.14d with her send of Grandi Gesti in Italy. Rogora also established La Gasparata 5.14c/d, Supercrack 5.14b/c, Ercole 5.14c, Grotta dell’Arenauta Sperlonga 5.14c and Sitting Bull 5.14c/d.
