Laura Rogora Sends New 5.14d with Iron Man
She's one of the most accomplished sport climbers at her age
Laura Rogora has made the first ascent of Iron Man 5.14d at Bus de Vela, Trento, Italy. The 20-year-old 150-centimetre-tall Italian crusher sent her first 5.14b at age 13 with Ciccio Formaggio in Italy.
Rogora recently finished the recent World Championships in Russia with a bronze in lead climbing, and she’s climbed nearly two dozen sport routes from 5.14+ and up. She’s also onsighted two 5.14a sport routes: Ixeia and L-mens in Spain, both in 2020.
When it comes to hard lines, she got the second ascent of Pure Dreaming Plus 5.15a, a repeat of The Bow 5.15a and a tick of Ali Hulk Sit Extension Total in Spain 5.15b. Some of her rist ascents include Tommorowland Extension 5.14+, Supercrack 5.14+, La Gasparata 5.14+, Sitting Bull 5.14+ and Reveille-toi 5.14d; all in Italy.
Rogora started climbing at five years old with her dad, and started training under her coach Alessandro Marrocchi at seven. She finished in 15th in women’s combined at the Tokyo Olympics.
