Legend Stefan Glowacz Climbs New 20-pitch 5.11+

It's the first of three new climbs he and Philipp Hans are hoping to establish

Legendary climber Stefan Glowacz and Philipp Hans, both from Germany, have made the first ascent of Wallride Vol. 1 on Croda Bianca (2,841 m) in the Dolomites. It climbs the southwest pillar of Croda Bianca.

The new 700-metre rock route clocks in at 5.11+ and climbs next to a 1930 route called Via Tessari, which it shared the first three pitches with. They used removable 8 mm bolts at belays and on the steeper sections, so if the route is repeated the climbers will need to bring their own bolts and hangers.

This is the first route of the Wallride Tour, where they hope to climb three new routes in three countries. Their cycling between the objectives, and will be travelling at least 2,500 km around Italy, France and Switzerland. Follow along on Instagram below.
