Lonnie Kauk’s Second Ascent of Magic Line 5.14b in Yosemite

Lonnie Kauk has made the second ascent of Magic Line 5.14b in Yosmite. His dad, Ron Kauk, made the first ascent on Dec. 6, 1996. On Instagram, Lonnie wrote, “20 years later and second ascent of Magic Line 5.14b. A giant thank you to my Father, Ron Kauk, first ascent and dedicated to my uncle Allen Parker. He was the strongest man I’ve ever known who was also born and raised in Yosemite.” Watch Lonnie on Magic Line below:

“This route for me was all about learning from every emotion in the process,” wrote Lonnie. “Feels amazing to honor and share such things in this Life.” Lonnie is one of California’s leading solo climbers with many big routes to his name.

The splitter crack has been attempted by man strong climbers, including American Carlos Traversi who was attempting Magic Line about a month ago. Watch him whip off the crack below.
