Manon Hily Climbs Her 31st 5.14 Sport Route
The 29-year-old comp climber will now focus on qualifying for this year's summer Olympics

French climber Manon Hily, 29, has repeated Rêve De Poutre 5.14b at St Léger for her 31st sport route 5.14a or harder. In total, she has climbed 17 5.14a, 10 5.14b and four 5.14c.
“So the difficulty of the route is on the last five quickdraws,” Hily said about Rêve De Poutre on 8a.nu. “Two very hard movements with low feet for tall people but for small people there is no foot so it’s campus-style. I quite quickly did all the moves but still, after five working attempts I didn’t manage to campus the second movement after the first one. I was close to giving up but I found a new foothold just to push better.”
The veteran comp climber is hoping to qualify for the Paris Olympics, see a list of the 30 climbers who’ve already qualified here. “After these two moves, there are still 10 very crimpy moves in a resistance section,” she added Rêve De Poutre. “You can fall so many times on different moves. But lucky me, the first time I managed to do the campus movements, I could also do the last sequences.”
Hily was the French National Champion in 2023, placed third at the European Championship in 2023, and has climbed Era Vella 5.14c/d, Coma Sant Pere 5.14c, La ligne claire 5.14c and La Bongada 5.14c.
