March 1, 2010 – A Flurry of Difficult Female Ascents

The last month has seen a number of impressive North American and European female ascents. In Hueco, the American powerhouse Alex Puccio climbed her fifth V12 boulder problem with an impressive sub one-hour ascent of Tequila Sunrise. On the sportclimbing front Daila Ojeda has climbed Fish Eye, her first 5.14b in Oliana Spain. Ojeda required two months to redpoint the 50m long route which was originally bolted by Chris Sharma last year. Charlotte Durif again demonstrated why she is regarded as one of the best female route climbers by bagging 5.13d onsight and redpointing a three pitch 5.14b. More details here.
