May 19, 2010 – Major Access Victory in Ontario

The Ontario Access Coalition (OAC) has just confirmed a significant access victory with the re-opening of bouldering at designated areas at Halfway Log Dump (HWLD) in Bruce Peninsula National Park. The agreement is a result of years of negotiations which culminated in the development of a Recreational Activity Assessment Process (RAAP). The area officially opens at noon on May 22 at the Crab boulder with a short orientation session presented by the OAC and Bruce Peninsula National Parks staff. Climbers are strongly encouraged to adhere to all access guidelines. More details here.
