Men With Morals and Other Hard New Mixed Routes
Martin Feistl has established a handful of bold trad mixed routes this winter

Mixed climbers are taking advantage of the excellent conditions that persist across the Alps. Austrian Martin Feistl has established four test-piece mixed routes over the past month.
With Martin Sieberer, Feistl made the first ascent of the 500-metre Gullyvers Reisen M6 WI6. “This is exactly what makes the route so appealing,” said Feistl, “completely into the unknown and being rewarded after the 200-metre approach up to M4 and the crux pitch with 250 metres of ice to WI4 deep inside the mountain.”
Feistl then teamed up with Simon Gietl for the first ascent of Affogato, a 150-metre M6 WI7. Feistl said the climb has “the most athletic moves you can find on ice with traditional protection.” They then made the first ascent of the 150-metre Zirmol M8 WI4.
Martin Feistl then met up with Sieberer again for the first ascent of the trad route Men With Morals, a 170-metre M8 WI6R in Pnnistal. It climbs next to the route Men Without Nerves, which was established in the mid-1980s.
