Mikey Foreal is 112th Canadian to Summit Everest
He reached the top with ease and updated the world after his ascent.

Mikey Foreal has reached the top of Everest and become the 112th Canadian to do so. On social media, Foreal, originally from Ontario, wrote, “Top of the world. For a brief moment in time, I was king of the castle.“Mingma Sherpa, Dawa Gyalje Sherpa and their sherpa bros pulled it off. First team to summit this year (after the line fixers of course). Strongest team on the mountain. Thanks for letting me tag along and not letting me quit on the way to the summit, a dream come true.”
Over 400 climbers have reached the summit so far in 2018 thanks to excellent conditions and weather. “What a ride it was. It’s taken me several days of silence to digest my emotions,” said Foreal.
“The climb had its challenges, but today I’ll only enjoy the success.”
The first Canadian male to reach the summit was Laurie Skreslet on Oct. 5, 1982. And the first Canadian (and North American) female was Sharon Wood on May 20, 1986. Foreal, one of Canada’s keen international climbers, is one of many Canadians in the Himalayas this year. Good luck and safe climbing to all teams.
