Mingma Gyalije Sherpa is First in Himalayas Again


Mingma Gyalije Sherpa, working with Imagine Treks and Expeditions, has reached the first summit of an 8,000-metre peak in 2018.
In 2017, he was the first to lead an 8,000-metre peak with a climb of Dhaulagiri.
This year, Mingma Gyalije Sherpa led a group up Lhotse, the first 8,000-metre summit reached this 2018 season.
They team included Kili Pemba Sherpa, Tamding Sherpa, Nima Jangmu Sherp, Liu Yongzhong and Hong Dong Juan.
The climbers reached Lhotse’s 8,516-metre summit on April 29 at 11:30 a.m without supplemental oxygen.
The Lhotse climbers then returned to Everest Base Camp to join the Imagine Everest team and wait for a weather window to head up Everest.
Mingma Gyalje Sherpa in 2017
Mingma Gyalje Sherpa had an impressive 2017 with a number of big summits including Dhaulagiri in April, Makalu in May, K2 in July and Broad Peak in August.
On Facebook in 2017, he posted, “Finished my 11th 8,000-metre peak. Broad peak is my 10th 8,000-metre without oxygen. All safely arrived back to camp three.”
He climbed K2 without supplemental Oxygen.
