Mirko Caballero is Youngest to Send V14

Mirko Caballero, the 13-year-old bouldering phenom, has just sent one V-grade higher than his age, his first V14.

Welcome to being a teenager Caballero, and congratulations on being the youngest person to climb a V14. Paul Robinson made the first ascent of the sit-start in 2012, two years after he established the stand-start. The route has been repeated by Dave Graham, Carlo Traversi, Niccolò Ceria, James Webb, Daniel Woods, Sean McColl and others. Originally graded V15, it was downgraded in 2013.

Caballero climbed the V13 stand-start in January, days before turning 13. On March 23, he sent the sit-start, “Done deal, Still can’t believe it, Meadowlark Lemon sit V14 (8B+)!” wrote Caballero on his Facebook page, “I never worked so hard for a project. Took me another three trips after sending the stand, but today it finally came together. Nice job Paul Robinson on opening this one. One of the best ever routes ever.”
