Margo Hayes is one of the most motivational climbers out there with sends of some of the most classic hard sport routes in the world.
In 2016, she was the Youth World champion for Lead and Boulder and in this year’s Combined World Championships she was 11th.
One of her goals is to compete in the Olympics in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped her from focusing on sending hard rock routes. She recently sent Fish Eye and Mind Contral, two 5.14s in Spain.
After The World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria, I visited Oliana, Cataluña, and my first impression exceeded my high expectations. The cliff made a lasting impression on me, and I was able to enjoy climbing on many routes due to the tranquility of the summer season. Warm weather meant fresh figs, slow mornings, and time spent with generous climbers! Thank you to my Papa, and my good friend, Jan, for making the time so memorable. One of the first classics that I enjoyed was Fish Eye 8c.? Established by @chris_sharma ? @jan_novak_photography @thenorthface @petzl_official @lasportivagram @frictionlabs @dogearedjewelry
“I hope that I can be a positive role model for women and men of all ages,” said Hayes. “I have many role models in the climbing community.
“I would be honoured if I could inspire other people as they inspire me.”
In 2017, Hayes climbed two 5.15s with her sends of La Rambla and Biographie/Realization, which she talks about in the below video.
