Monique Richard Rescued off Logan After Summit

Monique Richard became first woman to solo highest peak in Canada before being rescued by helicopter off of Mount Logan during her descent.

The 43-year-old Montreal climber encountered poor weather, equipment problems and extreme cold before calling for a lift.

In a CBC story here, two it’s noted that the search and rescue workers who helped Richard off the mountain were flown north from Banff.

Richard was the first Canadian woman to reach the seven summits in a record time of 30 months. And the first Canadian woman on up Makalu (8,485 m) and climbed Everest in 2012.
