Mount Everest is Not Closest Point on Earth to Sun

In what may seem like a shock, Mount Everest is not the closest point on earth to the sun. While it is the highest summit above sea level, due to a bulge in the earth from rotation and gravity, Everest is not the farthest point from the centre of the planet.

It is Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador that is the farthest point from the centre of earth, which means it is the closest to the sun. A team of scientists from Ecuador and France recently made the measurements and released their findings.
