Graham Zimmerman and Chris Wright have climbed Celeno Peak, a 4,000-metre mountain in Alaska’s St. Elias Range, for its second ascent. Their new route is called the West Face Direct and goes at M6 5.10X A2+ for 2,000 metres.
The strong American climbers’ pilot into the area, Jay Claus, made the first ascent of Celeno in 2012. Carlos Buhler had attempted it in 1990. Visit Wright’s Instagram page below for more of the story.
Sometimes things line up, and sometimes we get lucky. Feeling very much that, plus sunburned, sore, chapped, tired, and only a little less shattered than when @grahamzimmerman and I left the glacier on Monday, but most of all happy. North to the Future indeed. Thanks Alaska! More soon, but for now beer, food, friends, and sleep. #lifepoints @cilogear_official @pickybars #alaska #alpine #climbing #nowclimbing
