New Bolted Five-Pitch 5.8 in Jasper on Proposal

Local guidebook author Francois Laplante and partner Addison Eady have added a nice looking five-pitch 5.8 to Maligne Valley in Jasper National Park.

Their new route is called Hands in My Pockets and climbs a slab to a steeper section on the Arch Wall.

Hands in My Pockets is 145 metres, climbs above Medicine Lake and takes an hour to approach.

The 145-metre route is one of many multi-pitch bolted routes added to the Rockies this year, including a soon-to-be-announced 17-pitch 5.9 A0 on Heart Mountain near Calgary.
