New Mixed Variation to Master of Puppets in Rockies

In the 2003/04 season, Chris Delworth and Dave Marra established Master of Puppets WI6 on the Upper Weeping Wall north of Banff. The 170-metre route rarely forms and to reach it you have to climb one of the lines on the Lower Weeping Wall.

On Dec. 29, Raphael Slawinski, Ian Welsted and Juan Henriquez established a mixed variation up the rock where the a steep pillar formed on the first ascent. The bolted a mixed line ground-up to reach the upper ice. Be sure to visit Slawinski’s blog for ongoing updates. Henriquez is barely visible heading up the lower ice in the left side of the photo below.
