New Patagonia Granite Splitter Alpine Routes
Good weather windows are resulting in several new routes throughout the region

Alessandro Baù, Matteo Della Bordella and Mirco Grasso recently made the first ascent of a new 450-metre big wall-style route on Aguja Val Biois in Patagonia’s Fitz Roy range. The three climbers, who had never all climbed together before, named their new line ¿Quién sigue? and graded it 7a A1, which is 5.11d A1 in North American grades.
Felipe Marin Moreno, Vicente Urzua and Josefa Miranda have made the first ascent of a new 14-pitch route on Cerro Escudo called Millacahuin. Their 600-metre line goes at 5.11 and is named after Johan Millachahuin, who died in a climbing accident in 2020 in Torre del Paine.
On Aguja Pollone, Mati Korten has made the first free ascent of the 220-metre Joviejo at 5.12. Supporting him were Facu Saubidet, Jose Bonacalza and Pierrick Giffard over several days.
And on Torre Egger, Roberto Jose Morales, Felipe Guarderas and Nicolas Navarrete repeated Marc-André’s Vision by linking it into Titanic at M6 5.12 WI3.
