New Route on Mount Gimli, Rumble in the Jungle
Gimli is one of the most aesthetic peaks in BC, it now boasts a new five-pitch 5.10
On Saturday, Sept 14th, Cam Shute and JT Croston climbed Rumble in the Jungle, a five-pitch, all traditional route on Mt Gimli’s East Face. Â The crux involved a hard layback and goes at 5.10b/c.
Mount Gimli is 2,774 metres and  is situated at the south end of Valhalla Provincial Park in Southern British Columbia. The classic route on the peak is the South Ridge, 5.9.
They had good weather, but JT said there was a lot of cleaning to do. They arrived back in Robson in time to watch Olympian Gord MacArthur’s presentation the evening of the Kootenay Climbing Festival.
Rumble in the Jungle pitches are 5.6, 5.8, 5.10a, 5.10b/c, 5.7
