New V12 at Frank Slide Boulders by Loic Fujinaga

It's one of the hardest problems in the Rockies

Loic Fujinaga has made the first ascent of River Monster V12 at Frank Slide in Alberta. Earlier this year, gym owner Josh Muller made the FA of Space Invaders V13 at Frank Slide.

About send, local developer and longtime advocate for “the Frank,” Josh Bylsma, said, “For those who don’t know, Loic Fujinaga established one of the proudest lines in not only Frank, but in the Rockies, River Monster, this past weekend. Congratulation to Loic!”

Bylsma continued with a heads-up about bear encounters in the area: “On a related note, if you don’t already do so, it is a good idea to engage in typical bear safety practices (make noise, carry spray, keep pets and children close, etc.) in Frank, especially at the more forested and perimeter areas. Loic encountered a bear with cubs near the River King boulder on Saturday, and several large, fresh piles of bear scat were found on the way to Tetris boulder on Monday. Bears, cougars, and moose have been spotted at various locations in the Slide over the years (Interpretive Centre, Railway/House/Aftermath, Farm, Weathertop, Pilgrimage, Townsite, Gunwales, Healing, Wind War, Olympus), so be alert and prepared.”

Frank Slide has over 2,200 problems listed on Sendage, where Bylsma and others have been keeping track of the history of development. Other hard problems at the Frank include Street Fighter V12, Cocoon Low V12, Vicious V12 and Quantum Leap V12.
