The new West Kootenay guidebook features 960 boulder problems spread out over the Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan Valley at 15 different areas with a mix of gneiss and granite boulders.

Guidebook author, Allen James Rollin, said, “It’s the first-ever bouldering guidebook to the region and it will surely put this incredible underground bouldering paradise on the map.” Follow below on Instagram.

The guidebook is available online here or at select outdoor retailers across Western Canada including: Climb On in Squamish, Valhalla Pure in Squamish, Eskala Sports in Penticton, Valhalla Pure in Nelson, Cube Climbing Gym in Nelson, Valhalla Pure in Canmore and at various Calgary Climbing Centre locations.

“October until early November offers excellent sending conditions around the West Kootenays with many fast drying and south facing boulders,” said Rollin.

“This is when Arrow Lake comes into its prime and the Larch forests surrounding many of the boulders start turning golden which makes it a beautiful time of year to be in the area.”

Be sure to check out West Kootenay Bouldering for lots of great information, beta and updates. Over 200 problems have been developed this season.
