Nov 11, 2011 – Banff Winners Announced

The prestigious Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival has announced its winners for 2011. The grand prize in the film category was awarded to Cold, a film produced and directed by Anson Fogel about Cory Richard’s experiences during his team’s successful winter ascent of Gasherbrum II. On the book front, the jury awarded the grand prize to Bernadette McDonald’s Freedom Climbers. In her book, McDonald explores the story of a group of Polish climbers who emerged after World War II to become the some of the leading Himalayan climbers between the 70s and the 90s.
