Nov 16, 2010 – Canadian Entry Wins at Banff Mountain Festival

This year’s winners at the Banff Mountain Festival book competition include Kevin McLane’s impressive select guidebook of Canada’s best west coast climbs.  Gripped columnist Kevin McLane was awarded the Mountain Exposition award for Canadian Rock: Select Climbs of the West, a guidebook that does a remarkable job of documenting and distilling the vast amount of climbing in western Canada.The Grand Prize went to John Long and Dean Fidelman’s book, The Stonemasters: California Climbing in the Seventies which chronicles the lives of a talented group of young climbers that dominated the American scene and influenced climbers all over the world.
