After five weeks of effort and over 25 days of climbing Canada’s Sonnie Trotter has bagged the second ascent of The Prophet 5.13d R in Yosemite. Climbing with the up-and-coming Canadian-climbing rock star Will Stanhope, Trotter managed the redpoint on his last day on the Valley. The pair had made excellent progress on the difficult route and were only being shut down the crux 35m thin crack dubbed the A1 Beauty. Stanhope also came very close to sending the route but fell after climbing above his high point on the crux pitch. Stanhope has vowed to return to the climb next year for a full fall-free ascent. Trotter meanwhile is celebrating his success with a relatively stress-free bouldering trip to Bishop. More details here.
