Ontario Climbers Climb Rocket Man in Rockies

Toronto-based climbers Stas Beskin and Daniel Martian have climbed Rocket Man M7+ WI5+ 300m on Mount Patterson in the Rockies.

Rocket Man was recently climbed by Americans Kurt Ross and Colin Simon, with Ross leading and sending every pitch. Beskin and Martian are the first recorded all-Ontario team up the classic hard line.

It was first climbed in the late ’90s and didn’t form again until 2011. For more information on previous sends, visit here. Below is a photo by Ross of Rocket Man a few weeks ago to show conditions.

Martian is one of Ontario’s top rock climbers, with repeats of many 5.14s in the Toronto area. This summer, he added a new 5.14 to Lion’s Head called Tour de Lion. Rocket Man is in the middle of some big avalanche hazard. Beskin noted that they witnessed a large avalanche. With the recent heavy snowfalls, be sure to check avalanche conditions here before heading up.
