Over $40,000 in Cash Up for Grabs for Climbers
Apply by the end of January to get support for your 2025 objective

Here are three financial grants open to climbers in 2025 that together offer over $40,000 CAD in assistance. The first two are organized by the Alpine Club of Canada. The American Alpine Club also offers grants, but the application period ended on Dec. 31 – more info here.
Jen Higgins Grant: Teams must include a young woman who is central to conceiving, developing and leading the trip. The Jen Higgins Fund was established by friends and family to honour Jen Higgins after her death in 1997. Jen’s enthusiasm and generous spirit continue to live on by supporting young women in creative, self-propelled mountain adventures with this grant. The Alpine Club of Canada is honoured to be able to continue Jen’s legacy of sharing knowledge and enthusiasm with others – the legacy of a truly adventurous and generous spirit. Deadline Jan. 31. John Lauchlan Memorial Award: The John Lauchlan Memorial Award is a cash and mentorship award designed to assist Canadian climbers. The award exists to perpetuate the bold and adventurous spirit which John Lauchlan exemplified in his climbing exploits. Specifically, the award strives to promote the development of Canadian climbers through the support of worthy expeditions and mountainous adventures. Bernard de Launoit Prize for Mountain & Adventure: €25,000 ($37,000 CAD) available. The grant aims to support climbers who “demonstrate a spirit of exploration but also present an original project, whether individual or collaborative, with a clear objective. The jury is comprised of Anselme Baud, Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll, Fanny Schmutz, Paul-Erik Mondron, Arnaud van Schevensteen, Simon de Launoit and Thomas de Dorlodot will oversee the selection process.
