Owen and Kai Whaley Send Hard Rocklands Boulders
A new video was just released showcasing some of their sends
During their summer trip to South Africa, Owen and Kai Whaley made the most of their time in the world-famous Rocklands bouldering area, known for its sandstone and hard test pieces. The duo spent weeks exploring the stunning Cederberg mountains, throwing themselves at some of the area’s most iconic climbs. Their tick list reflects their skill, with sends spanning a wide range of grades and styles.
Among their standout ascents were several of Rocklands’ benchmark problems, including First Rule of Fight Club V9, The Rhino V8, and Leap of Faith V11. From powerful compression lines to delicate slabs, Owen and Kai showcased versatility across classic boulders that have challenged some of the world’s best climbers. Each send came with its own battle, long sessions, skin-wrecking days, and the trademark Rocklands sun.
Pushing into elite territory, the brothers also dispatched a string of problems in the V13 to V14 range, such as Sky, Air Star, El Corazon, Ray of Light, and Get Railed. Perhaps most impressively, both managed Reverse Cowgirl V14, a steep and technical line. Their Rocklands season stands as a highlight in their climbing careers so far.
