Nepalese climber Purnima Shrestha has climbed Mount Everest today three times this season. Purnima, who works as a photojournalist, climbed it on May 12, May 19 and on May 25.
She’s previously climbed eight other 8,000-metre peaks, including K2 (8,611 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,481 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Annapurna I (8,091 m).
About Shrestha’s season, Lakpa Mountaineering said, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the entire 8K team for supporting her throughout the expedition, leading to her successful summit. We wish her a safe descent. Cheers to Ms. Purnima Shrestha for her extraordinary accomplishments!”
The Everest season is quickly winding down, but early reports suggest more than 570 climbers and guides reached the summit. Another record that was set this season was by Kami Rita Sherpa, who climbed Everest for his 30th time.
