Watch Quebec Climber Catherine Vaillancourt Send First V11

Quebec climbers Catherine Vaillancourt and Olivier Turgeon have made a short video about their trip to Rocklands in the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa

Watch as long-time climber Vaillancourt climbs two V10s and her first V11.

Rumour has it that legendary climber Todd Skinner “discovered” the area for climbing in the 1990s while on a trip to climb to climb big walls.

He then told top boulderer Fred Nicole about the potential and Nicole moved to the nearby Alpha Excelsior Farm.

Over the years, word spread about the area and more top climbers visited, including Klem Loskott, Wills Young, Lisa Rands, Nate Peach and many others.

Rocklands is a desert landscape situated about three hours north of Cape Town. Most people visit the area because of the likelihood of stable weather and the small matter of the incredible bullet-hard sandstone.
